Imagine you were able to listen to any UK radio station on your FM radio, just as if you were in the UK. Well, now you can with this clever device. It transmits any radio station on your Sky digibox to a FM radio located anywhere in the house or garden. Now you can wake up to you favourite radio station without the need for an extra TV or digibox in your bedroom, you can listen to the radio by the pool, in the garden, kitchen or workshop. The device sends out a FM signal which travels through walls - it does not need to be within sight of the satellite receiver. It is powered by a 9V battery to give over 120 hours of continual use and connects to your Sky receiver via the phono lead. Both battery and phono lead are supplied; all that you need is a FM radio. The two thin black wires that you can see at the bottom of the photograph are aerial wires - reception is not particularly affected by the positioning of these wires and for broadcasting up to a range of 15m they could be removed. The transmitter is small enough to sit behind your digibox, well out of sight.
If required, you can easily modify the unit to take a regulated dc power source between 9 and 16 volts. Most regulated mains adaptors will work without any problems, although you will have to make the modification yourself - there is no socket/jack for a standard low voltage input.
The device allows you to select any unused frequency on your radio between 88 and 108MHz. Set the same frequency on the transmitter by adjusting a small potentiometer and whatever station you have on your Sky digibox will be sent to your radio. The operating range is approximately 200 metres. These transmitters are very powerful and in tests they transmitted through 4 walls at a test range of 50 metres, without any interference or breakup. We believe that these transmitters will not be blocked by the typical French farmhouse style thick stone walls!
We do not recommend the FM transmitter for use with the Sky (Javelin) Minibox, because of the lack of phono outputs on this model.
