The Grundig Freesat High Definition receiver allows you to view all the free UK channels that are available in standard and high definition. While most free channels such as BBC and ITV are broadcast in standard definition, ITV HD broadcasts and the BBC HD channel are also available using this receiver, making it a good choice for anyone who has an HD ready TV but who does not want to subscribe to receive other HD channels.
The Freesat channels now include all BBC and ITV channels, Channel 4 and Channel 5, in addition to over 140 other TV and radio programmes. One of the main advantages of Freesat receivers is that no viewing card is required and they are equipped with an on-screen programme guide that shows only the free channels that can be received. Any subscription channels are not shown on the programme guide, and - as there is no viewing card slot - cannot ever be accessed using this receiver.
The receivers work well in the UK and areas close to the UK, such as France and Ireland, but are not recommended for use in very weak signal areas such as Southern Spain or Cyprus.
The receivers work on the same signal as a Sky receiver (the satellite, Astra 2, is the same) and can therefore work off the same dish that an existing receiver is connected to. They can either replace a Sky receiver or - by using a muti-output LNB - can be used in addition to an existing receiver.

Wireless AV link - gives you the same capability as the TV link, but without the wires. It allows you to extend your viewing to a second TV set. Like the TV link, it will not allow you to watch different channels simultaneously. This can only be done by installing a second digibox. If you purchase this item, it is usually a good idea to purchase an additional remote control handset.
